We didn’t come up with this one… We just enhanced it! 🥜✨ So if we didn’t invent it, where did this bizarre tradition begin, you may ask? While no one knows for sure the exact origins of dumping a pack of salty peanuts into a bottle of cola, we’ve done a little digging and found some insider info just for you! And in true Skrewball fashion, we couldn’t help but add our own lil’ nutty flare to this age-old tradition with our Skrewy Cola recipe found below 😉

HISTORY OF PEANUTS & COLA

One thing not up for debate regarding this peanuts & cola situation, is that it’s 100% southern born and bred! Around the early 20th century, shelled peanuts were being packaged and starting to become widely available to the public. It is theorized that peanuts & cola started as a convenient sanitation solution for agricultural workers and farmhands who didn’t have a place to wash up before enjoying a midday work snack. Instead, they could simply toss their peanuts in their cola bottles and go about their day. And the best part? Peanuts magically maintain their crunchy texture even after being soaked in soda for hours on end, making for the perfect combination! Also referred to as “the working man’s strawberries in champagne” peanuts & cola is a trend born out of convenience, but is now passed down as sheer tradition throughout the  generations ✨

According to our sources, the narrow neck of a cola bottle in combination with the peanut salt is responsible for creating the desired effect that has made peanuts & cola so popular through the times! RECIPE

INGREDIENTS:

• 1 bottle of cola
• 1 pack of salted peanuts
• Roughly 1 oz. Skrewball (or however much you want)

INSTRUCTIONS:

• Start by taking a few sips off the top of your cola
• Pour in your skrewball and gently mix (avoiding a volcano of fizz, if possible)
• Dump peanuts into bottle all the way up to the neck
• Drink, snack, & enjoy!
